Welcome to Sutton Sailing Club
Due to the issues of COVID 19, the Committee of Sutton Sailing Club have reviewed activities of the club.
Please read summary COVID 19 policy which supercedes conflicting information published elsewhere in this website, and provides guidance on how the club facilities are to be used in the meantime.
However this policy is now amended in the short term: For the duration of the 'lockdown' starting on 5/11/20 until the new restrictions are lifted, to ensure compliance with Government legislation, and in line with RYA advice, the Sailing Club will close for all scheduled / organised events and the club house is not to be used.
It will remain closed until such time as the current ‘lockdown’ is eased and we are advised that we can re-commence organised sailing activity.
We believe the guidance permits members to enter the Club grounds to check or carry out work on their boats.
Single handed sailors or a family unit sailing in a double handed dinghy are able to sail for personal exercise, whilst complying with the spirit and letter of the Law. Unless your household can provide safety cover, if you choose to sail it will be without safety cover and is at your own risk. However in wintery conditions please exercise extra caution if you choose to sail at this time.
Sutton Sailing Club is above all a friendly club. We offer excellent sailing facilities for beginners through to those of a good club racing standard, and compliment these with a varied social programme.
The club provides the opportunity to sail throughout the year whether you wish to race competitively (Sundays and Wednesday evenings daylight permitting) or just potter around on a very attractive stretch of water in the heart of Sutton Coldfield. It is a place to meet with people who share a passion in all things sailing related.
The club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre where we introduce and train those new to the sport, and encourage those beyond the first steps to improve and gain higher skills in the very broad activity that is sailing. To support our training programme there are a good number of club boats, which are also available for hire by members, avoiding the need to buy a boat when first starting out.
Hopefully you will find all the information you are looking for in the pages of this site, but if you would like a chat about trying sailing, learning to sail or joining the club, please give Rob Allen a ring on 0121 354 5562 and he will be very happy to advise you.
