Welcome to Sutton Sailing Club

Due to the issues of COVID 19, the Committee of Sutton Sailing Club have reviewed activities of the club.

Please read  summary COVID 19 policy which supercedes conflicting information published elsewhere in this website, and provides guidance on how the club facilities are to be used in the meantime.

Club activity is currently being constrained by government guidelines, however from 11th April, sailing activities are permitted including mixed households in 2 man boats. The racing programme has now restarted. Social distancing will apply for the time being on shore. We are able to use the bar on the same basis as pubs which for the time being is for groups of 6 people to share a table outside or inside with table service. From 17th May we can use the inside of the clubhouse with social distancing rules applying including using the galley for drinks and food.

The indoor use of the clubhouse and other club buildings for social activities is allowed, and the changing rooms available while maintaining social distancing.

Sutton Sailing Club is above all a friendly club. We offer excellent sailing facilities for beginners through to those of a good club racing standard, and compliment these with a varied social programme.

The club provides the opportunity to sail throughout the year whether you wish to race competitively (Sundays and Wednesday evenings daylight permitting) or just potter around on a very attractive stretch of water in the heart of Sutton Coldfield. It is a place to meet with people who share a passion in all things sailing related.

The club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre where we introduce and train those new to the sport, and encourage those beyond the first steps to improve and gain higher skills in the very broad activity that is sailing. To support our training programme there are a good number of club boats, which are also available for hire by members, avoiding the need to buy a boat when first starting out.

Hopefully you will find all the information you are looking for in the pages of this site, but if you would like a chat about trying sailing, learning to sail or joining the club, please give Rob Allen a ring on 0121 354 5562 and he will be very happy to advise you.

If you are looking for our weather page, sadly our windguru weather station has reached the end of its life and can't be repaired or replaced easily. We're looking into alterntives and hope to have live weather from SSC published live again soon.

Want to know what sailing feels like or interested to know how you could start sailing? The club will be holding an open day on 13th July from midday to around 4.30pm. We will be providing trips on the water in sailing dinghies and powerboats and we are more than happy to talk to you about how you can start sailing.  Refreshments will be available to buy on shore with all proceeds going to the Childrens Society.

We've put up some proposals under the members' section for extending the clubhouse to improve facilities. Login to the members' area to download the drawings. Why not send the Club Development Committee an email with your thoughts and ideas.
