Sutton Sailing Club

Welcome to

Sutton Sailing Club is above all a friendly club. We offer excellent sailing facilities for beginners through to those of a good club racing standard, and complement these with a varied social programme.

The club provides the opportunity to sail throughout the year whether you wish to race competitively (Sundays and Wednesday evenings daylight permitting) or enjoy a leisurely family sail on a very attractive stretch of water situated in Sutton Park in the heart of The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield. It is a place to meet with people who share a passion in all things sailing related.

You will find all the information about our club and courses in the pages of this site, but if you would like a chat with a member about the club, please give Rob a ring on 0121 354 5562.  Additionally for any questions about our courses, learning to sail or any other queries please contact Kim for details by email at learntosail@suttonsc.org.uk or by phone on 07733287829.  Alternatively please complete the enquiries form at the bottom of this page.

We run several courses to get you on the water

Our courses will take you from absolute beginner to being able to take control of a sailing boat in fair conditions. We run Level 1 and Level 2 RYA approved dinghy courses. We literally can show you the ropes and won't tie you up in knots.

More than just sailing

Other Activities

Here at Sutton Sailing Club we also offer SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) for members wishing to practice their balance and exercise at the same time!  We currently have a number of Stand Up Paddleboards for rent by sailing club members and this is an activity which proves very popular with both adults and children on our social

sailing days!

Additionally, Sutton Sailing Club is linked with Birmingham Model Yacht Club, whose main interest is in sailing and racing model yachts - they are a thriving part of the club and a very accessible way for anyone to further an interest in sailing.

During 2009 BMYC were looking for a new venue since their water had become unsuitable for sailing Radio Controlled yachts. Following discussions between SSC and BMYC they became members of SSC.  Their membership has grown and they enjoy the excellent facilities that SSC has to offer.

BMYC race their model yachts on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons throughout the year and it’s a great way to take part in competitive sailing while keeping  your feet dry.
