The purpose of this section is to provide information that will help the Officer Of the Day and the Assistants to carry out their duties as efficiently as possible. The main problem with these duties is that, between one duty and the next, some of the details of the duty that were religiously relearned 'last time' are half forgotten again. So the main points are presented here to allow for a quick 'recap' before the required duty.

Initially Paul Scase's notes on rescue duty are presented in the hope that those on rescue duty will read them rather than terrify those being rescued, as frequently happens at present!

Details of the various start and flag sequences are then given using the 'flag work' of Chris Davis.

For those who are comfortable with computers, the latest version of the Handicap Spreadsheet can be downloaded by clicking here. This spreadsheet makes running a handicap race and the subsequent calculations as easy as pressing a button. (You can enable macros when requested safe in the knowledge that it is virus free)
